Sonya Basanti Kumar is a fine artist living in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. She has a BS in Wildlife Fisheries Conservation Biology from UC Davis and an MFA in Painting from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. She has over 25 years of training and experience in drawing and painting and close to 35 years in fine art photography. Her father is Indian and her mother is American. She was born and raised in Silicon Valley (“tech stuff”) and now lives in a more artsy part of the Bay Area (between “big trees” and “wine”) with her husband, children, and a lot of pets. She can usually tell you what that bird is, if it is from the West Coast and you have a good descripton. “Small and brown” just won’t cut it.
